The City of White Bear Lake has an abundance of lakes, ponds, and wetlands. The City has several shallow lakes and wetlands that provide valuable habitat for wildlife, as well as some deeper lakes that provide opportunities for boating, fishing, and swimming.

The City of White Bear Lake is fortunate to have an abundance of surface water resources. In addition to our namesake lake, the City is dotted with many smaller lakes and wetlands.The City has adopted a number of policies and ordinances to protect the water quality of these water resources from polluted stormwater runoff and to prevent property damage due to flooding.

The City of White Bear Lake and many other communities depend on groundwater for their drinking water supply. Increasing demands on the water supply makes groundwater conservation and management a top priority. Reducing water use is critical for protecting the sustainability of the groundwater supply in the future.
