Bear Tracks Self-Driving Shuttle

Bear Tracks is a 12-month self-driving shuttle research and demonstration pilot project lead by the Minnesota Department of Transportation's (MnDOT) Connected and Automated Vehicle (CAV) Office.  The project officially launched on August 5, 2022 and involves many partners including the City of White Bear Lake.  Riding the shuttle is free and open to the public.  For more information visit the project page on this website here or visit the project website for more detailed information and timely updates on service.

 

Ride the Bus

Metro Transit provides public bus transportation for Minneapolis/St. Paul and the greater metro area.

  • Bus route 219 provides all day service to Century College, Maplewood Mall and the Sunray Transit Center in Saint Paul.
  • Bus route 265 services White Bear Lake to downtown Saint Paul, through Maplewood.
  • Bus route 270 services White Bear Lake to downtown Minneapolis, through Maplewood.  This route only runs twice a day, during rush hour. 
  • Other routes with Park & Ride Lots near White Bear Lake

  • Map My Ride, or Metro Transit Bike Trip Planner connects you to trails within White Bear Lake and neighboring communities. 
  • All Metro Transit buses and trains have bike racks for two bikes on the front bumper. There are four bike racks inside each light-rail car and spaces for two bikes on every Northstar train car. In addition, there are bike racks and lockers at most stations.

Dial-A-Ride 

  • Transit Link - the Twin Cities dial-a-ride small bus service for general public.  For trips that can’t be accomplished on regular transit routes alone. May combine regular route and Transit Link service.
  • Metro Mobility - call ahead, shared public transportation service for certified riders who are unable to use regular fixed-route buses due to a disability or health condition. A completed ADA Paratransit application is needed to determine eligibility for this service.
