Temporary Tents (WBL Only)
Temporary tents or membrane structures having an area in excess of 400 square feet require a building permit in the City of White Bear Lake. Examples of these are garden centers, firework sales & other special events. If signage is needed for your tent, it will require a sign permit.
Exceptions:
- Tents/canopies used exclusively for recreational camping purposes.
- Tents/canopies open on all sides that comply with all of the following:
- Individual tents/canopies having a maximum size of 700 sq/ft
- The aggregate area of multiple tents/canopies placed side by side without a fire break clearance of 12 feet, not exceeding 700 sq feet total.
- A minimum clearance of 12 feet to all structures and other tents/canopies
The Building Department is currently accepting temporary tent permit applications through one of the following methods:
- Email building permit application, site plan, tent specs & property owner approval to buildingdepartment@whitebearlake.org
- Drop off building permit application, site plan, tent specs, property owner approval & check at The White Bear Lake City Hall - Monday-Friday between 8:00 - 4:30
- Mail building permit application, site plan, tent specs, property owner approval & check to White Bear Lake Building Department, 4701 Highway 61, White Bear Lake, MN 55110
Fees: Firework Sales Tent ($100.00) / All Other Tents over 400SF ($75.00)
